Bribe scam: IYC gives Imo govt 2 wks to prosecute offenders

BY EBUN SESSOU

LAGOS— Igbo Youth Congress, IYC, has given Imo State government two weeks within which to prosecute all involved in the N458 million bribery scam that led to the impeachment of the deputy governor, Sir Jude Agbaso, or face mass protest.

It also threatened to mobilise to the National Assembly in protest should state government fail to prove its commitment to good governance and transparency in managing public resources.

In a statement issued by its National President, Comrade Bright Ezeocha, the group warned that a mass rally had become imperative to address the seeming intractable political entanglement which had led to the impeachment of the deputy governor of the state, Sir Jude Agbaso.

It wondered why giver of the alleged bribe that led to the deputy governor’s impeachment, Mr. Joseph Dina, of Jpros International Limited, was still walking the streets a free man when both the giver and receiver of a bribe were supposed to be liable.
